Quotes from Milo regarding our own new arrival due in February. (Note: "Harvey" is name of one of his tank engine toys.)
Milo: I will not kick or hit the baby, Mommy. I will be gentle.
*
Merritt: You're going to have to share your books with the new baby.
Milo: I will, Mommy. I will share my books with Catharine's baby too.
*
Merritt: Do you think it will be hard to share your toys with the baby when it gets older?
Milo: [pause] I will give the baby Harvey.

Fred walks in the front door, Milo runs down the hall yelling...
Milo: DON'T WAKE UP MOMMY, DADDY! SHE IS SLEEPING! DON'T WAKE HER UP, DADDY!
Fred: Okay.
*
Milo: Can I have apple sauce, Mommy?
Merritt: [pauses to consider whether it will make it hard for him to fall asleep if he has one before his nap.]
Milo: Will it make it hard for my body to fall asleep?
Merritt: That's just what I was thinking about.
Milo: Well... how about I have one after nap-nap.
Merritt: Okay.
*
Milo: Who was that at the door, Mommy?
Merritt: That was our neighbor, Jeremy.
Milo: What did he want, Mommy?
Merritt: He was reminding us to vote on Tuesday.
Milo: [pause] What does that mean?
*
Fred reading Milo a story in which a magician does a performance and it is described as being a "smash."
Milo: Where is smash?
Fred: Oh, well there isn't a smash in the picture. "Smash" here means that his trick went very well. It's a good thing. Okay?
Milo: [pause] Okay.

We went to a pumpkin patch and Milo was pretty wary of it all but enjoyed the scooter toy in the playground area.
He wanted to be Thomas the Tank Engine for Halloween but when we got him the costume it really freaked him out. In fact costumes in general were not his thing, but he put one on (the bear hand-me-down from a friend) at the last minute.
Lately, Milo has gotten pretty tender which is to be expected at this age. He'll go into a tantrum at the drop of a dime. We try not to laugh.Comments:Add a comment:
